Job Summary:

The Postdoctoral Research Fellow position in Adolescent Gut-BrainNeuroscience focuses on investigating the gut microbiome's role in drugaddiction. This research takes place in a lab,which aims to identify unique microbiota-associated biomarkers that predictsubstance abuse in adolescents. The position is funded by the Oklahoma Centerfor Research Microbiome through an NIH COBRE award. 
Responsibilities:
• Conducts research and/or laboratory tasks and experiments under direct supervision.
• Collects, analyzes and interprets data.
• Creates reports from analysis of initial observations and conclusions.
• Presents findings to higher level staff.
• Presents results in internal and external research forums such as scientific conferences, lab meetings and institutional seminars.
• Handles moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
• Participates in grant and manuscript writing, as appropriate.
Environmental Hazards:
Laboratory environment. Possible exposure tohazardous material, hot and cold, blood borne pathogens.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds, stoop, reach, stand, walk, finger, grasp, feel, talk, hear, see, and perform repetitive motions with or without reasonable accommodations.
Special Instructions to Applicants Education & Experience Position Qualifications: Required:
-PhD in a field relatedto microbiology or biochemistry
-Strong computational and communicationskills, and to be interested in collaborative research --Background in bioinformatics, anaerobic microbial physiology, and/ormicrobiology of infectious diseases are highly encouraged to apply.
-Experience ingut microbiome analysis and other omics is desirable. -
-Workindependently taking responsibilities in the development and execution ofexperimental procedures to successfully advance the research project.
-Responsible for preparing data for presentations,progress reports, and the preparation of manuscripts and posters.
-Good communication and writingskills, as well as a mindset for collaborative research.
Skills, Proficiencies, andKnowledge:
• Education, Knowledge, Skills andAbilities Required:
• A Ph.D. degree in scientificdiscipline. With previous expertise in gut microbiome and/or bioinformatics.
• Minimum publication or in preparationof two articles as first author in a reputable peer-reviewed scientificjournal.
• Excellent written and verbal skills.
• Good problem-solving skills.
• Ability to conduct independentresearch.
• Ability to work effectively in ateam.
• Technical laboratory experimenttechniques. Examples include but are not limited to RT-PCR, RNA/DNAextraction/preparation, behavioral techniques.
