Utilizes knowledge of Mary Kay Inc. and the departmental operations contained therein to effectively provide quality postal customer service to the Mary Kay Inc. staff, the independent sales force, and vendors. Processes all types of mail and parcels including interoffice, outbound, and inbound items. Operates all Postal Operations’ machines and computers. Performs duties with minimal supervision from the Postal Operations Supervisor.

Shift Details:

  • First Shift
  • Mon-Thur: 6am-4pm and Fri: 7am-11am

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares interoffice and incoming mail for delivery by sorting items by department. Batches mail in bundles, places bundles in buckets, and places buckets onto mail carts for transportation. Delivers mail to appropriate mail stops and picks up outgoing and interoffice mail (at R3 and TMKB depending on rotating assignment).
  • Provides customer service at the Postal Operations customer service window, while on delivery routes, and by answering incoming telephone calls.
  • Receives incoming freight, express packages, and all other time-sensitive mail and parcels, and then prepares such for delivery within the Company. Logs all items into the SendSuite Tracking database and prints delivery labels for each. Delivers items to recipients within the Company and obtains required signatures.
  • Prepares and ships products in accordance with international and domestic laws and regulations. Keeps up-to-date of changes in the regulations pertaining to the preparation and shipment of hazardous products as specified under the U.S. DOT (Department of Transportation) Title 49CFR (Code of Federal Regulations) Consumer Commodity / Limited Quantities, for ground shipment. Participates in training courses and maintains certification in accordance with Company policy, domestic and international law.
  • Prepares outgoing domestic and international mail and parcels utilizing mail finishing machines and computer applications. Chooses the most suitable courier and service level to assure that mail and parcels are sent by the most cost effective and timely method. Processes mail and parcels by determining the correct amount of postage and entering variable information into the computer. Packs boxes and envelopes as needed. Maintains an orderly file of all documents, delivery slips, manifests, and logs.
  • Starts up and shuts down the Postal Operations computer systems each day by keying in the proper series of information. Initiates and generates daily and monthly reports as required such as volume tracking, postage chargeback data, daily reports for SendSuite Live / Connect+ carriers, etc.
  • Receives packages from vendors then breaks down pallets to load packages onto cart for delivery to specified floor and storage closets.
  • Trains new and veteran Representatives regarding policies, procedures, and requirements. Gives instruction on how to prepare, handle, and ship mail and parcels. In the absence of team member(s) assumes vacated job(s) for the length of time as determined by Supervisor, Postal Operations.
  • Ensures that the department vehicles, machinery, furniture, and mail carts are in good operating condition. Monitors state vehicle registrations and inspections on Postal Operations’ vehicles then reports findings to Supervisor, Postal Operations. Makes minor repairs such as inflating tires and adding oil as needed; escalates more serious problems to Supervisor, Postal Operations. Makes regular and periodic trips to outside vendors and to Mary Kay Inc. locations in Company vehicles to pick up and/or deliver mail, parcels, supplies, and equipment. Loads and unloads vehicle and obtains necessary signatures and documents.

Skills & Experience:

  • Must be able to read and understand a variety of work-related instructions and documents in English.
  • Incumbent must possess basic keyboarding and data entry skills to operate Mail Center equipment, including mailing machines and computers in a Microsoft Windows operating environment. Must be able to type a minimum of 20 WPM. Familiarity with Word and Excel preferred.
  • Must have strong attention to detail to prepare shipments of merchandise and documents. Able to prepare carrier airway bills and customs documents in accordance with domestic and international law.
  • Must receive training and maintain certification to prepare and ship Consumer Commodity / Limited Quantity shipments, as per the rules and laws that are written in Title 49CFR (Code of Federal Regulations) regulations.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and a helpful demeanor to provide customer services to other Postal Operations personnel, vendors, Mary Kay staff, and the independent sales force.
  • Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and a good driving record to operate Company vehicles.
  • Requires ability to frequently load/unload vehicles and lift up to 50 pounds. Must have the ability to push or pull mail carts weighing up to 500 pounds. Must be able to transport mail and packages for delivery to or pickup from diverse internal/external locations.
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, and lift as each process requires.
  • Must be able to maintain a well-organized, safe, and efficient work area.
  • Incumbent is required to adhere to all “attendance and punctuality” guidelines as specified in the Mary Kay Employee Handbook.
  • Incumbent is responsible for meeting all safety, production, and quality standards as required by the department supervisor for this Job.
