Job Description
DESCRIPTION:
The Psychology Department at Montclair State University invites applications for a 1-year (renewable for a second), full-time, 12-month position as a Post-Doctoral Teaching and Learning Fellow in Developmental Psychology. The Post-Doctoral Teaching and Learning Fellowship (PDTLF) is a new and innovative program at Montclair focused on Teaching and development for those people interested in Teaching and supporting student success in a majority-minority, HSI, R2, comprehensive institution. We are looking for a PDTL Fellow to augment our course offerings in lifespan developmental psychology, with a focus on aging. Expertise in quantitative methods is desired, as the Fellow may also teach courses in our core quantitative curriculum.
The Fellow has an opportunity to engage in work that will directly impact students in the tradition of Montclair’s notable commitment to be a leader in pedagogical innovation while expanding their teaching skillset. The Fellow will teach 4 3-credit classes in each of Fall and Spring semesters and 2 additional courses in summer and/or winter sessions. The total teaching load will be 30 credits per calendar year. The Fellow may also have opportunities to lead in the development of new courses in our psychology curriculum, with a commensurate reduction in teaching load.
Applicants must have a doctoral degree in psychology, human development, or a related field. ABD candidates are expected to complete their PhD before beginning the position in Fall 2024.
COLLEGE OF HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES AND THE DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY
The College of Humanities and Social Sciences is the university's largest academic unit with over 5000 undergraduate, Master’s and doctoral students. CHSS awards BA, MA, and PhD degrees through its 16 departments and 9 programs with over 30 majors and 50 minors. Offering traditional and interdisciplinary learning, the College is home to outstanding researchers across all disciplines while its faculty are also superb classroom instructors. The Psychology Department comprises more than 30 tenure-track and tenured faculty members, over 25 active research labs, and several PhD and MA programs. The Department is organized into three broad areas (Clinical, Industrial/Organizational, and Psychological Sciences), and our faculty have been awarded over 3.5 million dollars in extramural funding in recent years.
