Role: Portfolio Lead (Infrastructure)
Length: 12 months
Role Summary
The Portfolio Lead role is responsible for managing and mentoring a team of project professionals to deliver global Information Security & Risk Services (ISRS), Technology Infrastructure and Technology Services & Support (TSS) programs. The Portfolio Lead will also manage specific major projects as assigned.
Responsibilities will include technology portfolio planning, estimating, and demand management, ensuring all projects within the portfolio are managed effectively through a full project lifecycle.
The Portfolio Lead will ensure all projects follow the defined governance processes and change management methodologies and will also have a strong focus on portfolio reporting and analytics.
Job Description (summary of the role purpose):
The Portfolio Lead will manage the project lifecycle process for all projects within the portfolio. The lifecycle will include project intake (identification, evaluation, recommendation including business case development, resourcing, and prioritization) and project delivery (initiation, definition, delivery, warranty, and support) methodologies. The role will also include partnering with leadership to assess which projects have the highest potential value, impact, and strategic alignment. This will include providing full pipeline visibility, understanding, and reporting on portfolio priorities and implementation opportunities and challenges. Lastly, the role will align key business and TDS stakeholders to ensure projects are managed effectively from idea and inception, through to realization of benefits and mitigation of risk.
Further Development and enhancements of the project lifecycle processes are key to stay relevant and adapt to the technology direction within the business.
Core Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that appropriate governance, project management methodology, processes and reporting standards are applied to all projects within the assigned portfolio
  • Manage planning, scheduling, and resourcing for the projects in the portfolio
  • Provide reporting and analytics including portfolio, program and project status, and resource demand management using internal systems
  • Manage and report risks and issues associated with the portfolio
  • Report portfolio, program and project financials including budget, forecast and actual
  • Collaborate effectively with change management team, incorporate training and communications, ensuring plans for projects within the portfolio are consistent with the size and profile of the project, and follow a defined framework
  • Ensure that operational risks and issues are considered and reported during the design, development, and implementation of projects
  • Maintain regular progress meetings and continuity with the relevant business owner and steering committees
  • Produce budgets, define resource requirements, and manage dependencies with other projects or programs
  • Responsibilities may vary within the range of tasks and activities described, with specific objectives being set, documented, and reviewed by the VP, TDS Strategy & Governance
  • Ensure that projects are transitioned to business-as-usual and operational support following a formal gate review process
  • Manage relationships with key owners across TDS, and within individual functions and business units
  • Manage relationships with Corporate Real Estate
  • Manage relationships with a variety of stakeholders to influence and negotiate where applicable
  • Manage relationships with strategic vendor partners
Responsibilities (specific to the role) :
  • Manage and execute planning, scheduling, resource requirements and dependencies for the portfolio
  • Manage and chair portfolio meetings
  • Produce regular portfolio status reports using standard documentation and tools, ensuring inclusion of timely and accurate information
  • Manage dependencies with other projects, programs, or work streams
  • Drive scope-change discussions and provide options, recommendations, and solutions
  • Work closely and build relationships with members of the business, TDS stakeholders, Portfolio Leads and the change management team
  • Collaborate with leadership to define and prioritize projects in the portfolio
  • Manage project management resources and help remove barriers to success
  • Contribute to defining PMO governance and methodology and ensure adherence with project teams
  • Participates in the project management Center of Excellence (COE), in roadmap discussions, and suggests improvements to the end-to-end project management process
