Job description


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Accurately update N-4 - IN/OUT GATE Screen by inputting the following information:  container or chassis, booking , status, and seal number, reefer temperature, DCM, OOG/1posth, weight, trucker and condition.  Initiate follow up procedures in handling discrepancies found in any of the above listed functions.

Thoroughly inspect container and/or chassis condition to ensure cleanliness and that they are damage free and to accurately update system indicating any damages found.  Inspect shipper owned containers to ensure they are structurally safe to be shipped and verify validity of CSC plate and or ACEP sticker.

Ensure Hazardous Materials documents (DCM) matches placards on containers and meets regulatory requirements and notify appropriate personnel if hazardous incompatibility exists.

Accurately update N-4/IMDG, from shipper's DCM received from truckers,  with all pertinent information required to complete DCM for vessels.

Check to ensure loads on flat racks are properly secured as per "Flat Rack Securing Guidelines".
Direct specific loads (steel, sod) to assigned location for special handling/securing.    If cargo is out of gauge (OOG) or if it is a one post flat rack, info. is updated in N-4 and on log sheet for further billing.  Number of straps received on flat racks is also recorded in order for trucker to be reimbursed.
Calculate and update N-4 with weights for all loaded containers entering the port.  Calculation performed by using "Weight Calculation and Resolution Procedures".  Take appropriate actions for containers found to be overweight.

Check and validate reefer set/read temperature against booked temperature and notify Reefer Dept,/Reefer Tech of any discrepancies found.

Collect shipper's documents from truckers and separate by port for collection by mail clerk.
Know the difference between equipment pertaining to size, type, and ownership.
Communicate with Stevedoring and other departments when need via radio, e-mail, or telephone.
Performs all other related duties as requested.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:    High School Diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE:    Six months general clerical experience
LICENSE:    Valid State of Florida Driver's License. (*Class D Security Certification required for employees working Out-gate.)
TRAVEL:    N/A
PHYSICAL:    Operations - Manual dexterity to perform repetitive motion tasks on computer or handheld.  Ability to frequently twist, bend, reach, squat, kneel, climb on equipment, push/pull 50 pounds, crawl, lift and carry at least 80 pounds on a daily basis.  Able to withstand constant exposure to extreme weather conditions.
