The Missouri Behavioral Health Council (Council) represents over 30 behavioral health safety net agencies statewide. Council member agencies employ over 13,000 hard-working Missourians and serve well over 275,000 of our neighbors annually. The Council and its member agencies have been nationally recognized for their work on integrated care, healthcare homes, disease management, crisis intervention team training for law enforcement, and other innovative work. The Population Health Analyst is a position with the Missouri Behavioral Health Council’s Health Information Team and reports to the Lead Manager of Healthcare Data Analytics. The candidate will work onsite with the rest of the Council’s team located in Jefferson City. This position will build queries and analyses using data from the Council’s care coordination system and our data warehouse. This position will be responsible for producing reports and visualizations for Council-managed programs and presenting the data to various stakeholders. This position will lead analytics efforts for Behavioral Health and Developmental/Intellectual Disabilities (BHIDD) programs. The ideal candidate will be skilled in SQL or Oracle, have experience using Tableau or another data visualization tool, be familiar with Microsoft reporting tools or SAS, and ideally have a background working with healthcare data.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required; master’s degree preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook for email and calendar.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (with customer service level attention).
  • Ability to speak and present to large groups.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to quickly change tasks and priorities.
  • Knowledge of the behavioral health care systems and services utilized by individuals served within our DMH provider system (knowledge of other health systems is beneficial) is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a positive and professional manner.
  • Represent the Council in a positive and professional manner internally and externally.

Job Duties:

General job duties for all Council positions include setting meetings, preparing materials/presentations, conducting webinars, attending or conducting in-person training, meetings, and conferences, following up on action items resulting from meetings, and assisting with conferences when requested. As part of the Council team, it is also expected to assist other team members in their roles when needed and assist with Council-wide responsibilities such as assembling manuals, cleaning after training, preparing for meetings, and making the building and offices look sharp and well maintained.

The Population Health Analyst will work closely with the Health Information Team to help support Missouri Behavioral Health Council staff and its members by performing data analytics for statewide programs and initiatives, including but not limited to:

  • Collecting or extracting data from various databases.
  • Compiling, interpreting, and analyzing data using statistical techniques.
  • Creating reports and summaries in a meaningful and easy-to-understand format for various audiences and presenting that data including utilizing Tableau for data visualizations.
  • Keeping documentation that allows stakeholders to understand the steps of the data analysis process and duplicate or replicate the analysis.
  • Troubleshooting data integrity issues and analyzing data for completeness.
  • Identifying/creating efficiencies in data collection and reporting.
  • Explaining findings to stakeholders and partners for quality assurance and improvement processes.
  • Collaborating with other Health Information Team members and partners to identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Assisting other Health Information Team members in support of clinical, health information, and technology initiatives.
  • Assisting with Help Desk tickets for our care coordination tool.
  • Supporting MBHC program managers and provider staff by providing data to evaluate programs, find care gaps, and advocate on our providers’ behalf.
  • Seeking and participating in professional development opportunities necessary for advanced analytics.
  • Representing the Council in a positive and professional manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $52,500 - $71,500 DOQ
