Job Summary
The Polysomnographic TechnologistNew Grad is responsible for performing a variety of Sleep Studies on infants and children to include calibrations, monitoring equipment set-up and scoring based on the American Academy of Sleep Medicine Guidelines. Processes all documentation in order to provide accurate information to the physician.
Pay Range
Minimum $30.33 Midpoint $40.19 Maximum $50.05
Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.
Experience
• Required: None required.
• Preferred: One (1) year of experience in pediatric healthcare.
Education
• Required: High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Enrollment in an accredited Polysomnography or RCP program. Must maintain a minimum of 10 CECs annually specific to the discipline of sleep medicine; approved by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine or Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist.
• Preferred: Associate degree.
Training
• Required: None required.
Specialized Skills
• Required: Ability to communicate technical and/or clinical observations and accurately score records. Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position; Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; collaborate and accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to details.
• Preferred: Bilingual English-Spanish; Proficiency in use and theory of all equipment relating to sleep diagnostic testing.
Licensure
• Required: Basic Life Support (BLS); PEARS-Ped EMer Asmt Recog Stbl within 90 days of hire; must obtain Polysomnographic Technologist credential (RPSGT) within one year of hire; licensed through the Medical Board of California as a Polysomnography Trainee/Technician/Technologist.
• Preferred: RRT/RCP.
Work Environments - Functional Demand:
Light - Moderate energy level Lift and carry 25-35 lbs. Push/pull 50-100 lbs. (ie. empty bed, stretcher).
