POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs routine and complex polysomnographic procedures including MSLT, MWT, correlates and compiles diagnostic data and applies therapeutic modalities as necessary to patient's condition. Other duties may consist of scoring, scheduling Patients, upkeep of electronic and paper files, database activities, departmental quality improvement and EMU equipment troubleshooting. Performs all duties in a manner promoting a team concept and which reflects the mission statement of Lake Health District.
MINIMUM OF QUALIFICATIONS:
1.Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
2.Licensure/Certification/
Registration: Licensure with the Oregon Respiratory Therapist and Polysomnographic Technologist Licensing Board as a Polysomnographic Technologist or Respiratory Therapist. Requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
3.Experience: Previous sleep testing experience required.
4.Job Knowledge: The Polysomnographic Technologist must have the ability to integrate a basic understanding of anatomy and physiology with sleep/wake pathology. Attention to detail is critical since the quality of data from the polysomnogram is solely the responsibility of the technologist. Must be able to maintain vigilance in a non-stimulating environment. The tech must be able to assimilate data from several sources and anticipate initiation of care, in accordance with protocols to prevent harm to the patient. Must know when to consult the physician regarding the patient's care. Must react quickly and calmly in an emergency situation. Must understand and abide by patient confidentiality guidelines.
5.Skills:Strong analytical and detail-oriented skills, interpersonal communications skills and the ability to prioritize work and manage time effectively. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required for ensuring patient education, safety and comfort, as well as discussing patients and clinical situations with physicians. Must be proficient in math and computer skills. Must be willing and able to work long night shift hours over an extended period of time. Must be able to complete work in a timely and effective manner, in accordance with departmental standards.
6.Expected Hours of Work:Generally, night time hours; 12-14 hour shifts depending on length of sleep study.

Equipment:Able to don/doff PPE and perform work duties wearing facility provided personal protective. Per hospital Infection Prevention and Control Policies and Procedures.
8.Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
9.Travel:Travel may be required for this position to LHD affiliated entities and possible training workshops.
