Job description

Performs basic and advanced diagnostic sleep studies under the supervision of a Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT). Prepares patient equipment for testing, interviews patient to determine sleep disorder issues and to explain pre and post testing procedures. Performs and documents testing per lab protocols. Monitors patient throughout testing and intervenes as necessary to resolve patient needs or equipment issues. Assists with scoring sleep studies and generating reports. Prepares, calibrates, repairs and maintains equipment required for testing. Determines and reports needed repairs/replacements. 

  • Successful completion of a polysomnography program, of no less than 1 year duration, associated with a state licensed and/or a nationally accredited educational facility; or successful completion of a medical program leading to a minimum of an AS degree associated with state licensure; or leading to a certification in a medical program. (ie: Respiratory Care, Nursing, Medical Assistant).
  • Or a minimum of 6 months of experience as Polysomnographic Trainee with documented proficiency in all required competencies.
  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Associates Degree preferred.
  • Pass the board exam and become a credentialed (RPSGT) or certified by ABSM as a Registered Sleep Technologist within 2 years of hire.
  • Advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
