Job Summary

The Department of Political Science, Criminal Justice and International Studies at Georgia Gwinnett College invites candidates to apply for a full-time lecturer position beginning August 1, 2024.
Successful candidates for the Lecturer position will be expected to teach a 5/5 load of lower- and upper-division courses. The primary responsibility is to teach POLS 1101 American Government survey course, though courses in the candidate's area of specialty are also an option. Courses may be conducted in various delivery modes, such as face-to-face, online, hybrid and/or blended formats. Positions require additional time outside of class to provide written feedback to students and to meet individually with students throughout the semester.
GGC emphasizes a student-centered learning environment and applicants should demonstrate a strong commitment to student success. We are an institution that values and encourages innovative teaching. In addition to teaching, applicants are expected to actively participate in extensive student engagement, and service to the college and community. Advising and mentoring are expected of all faculty.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) in American Government from an accredited university.

Preferred Qualifications

Terminal degree in Political Science.
One or more years of college level teaching experience.
Highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a diverse population of students.
Sustained professional engagement that demonstrates relevance and currency in the field of teaching.
Strong commitment to undergraduate education, student engagement, and service to the college and community.
Individuals who can teach across disciplines (e.g. legal studies, criminal justice, Spanish, gender studies, environmental science) are especially encouraged to apply.
