We have a direct hire, full time, permanent opening for an experienced Polisher/Grinderin Delavan. This is an opportunity to work 2nd shift, 3pm - 11pm OR 3rd shift, 11pm – 7am. GENERAL SUMMARY
Produce an I.D. and/or O.D. finish on stainless steel fittings, pump bodies, covers, valves and/or assorted parts to meet 3A standards or for the pharmaceutical industry, 15 RMS or better. Employee must also be able to deburr parts or assemblies and wash as necessary, using various types of polishing tools such as abrasive belts, bobs and different hand tools.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
- Polish to specifications on the work order to produce line instructions on parts/products.
- Set up I.D. or O.D. polishing lathes or hand grinding equipment to run a specified task.
- Inspect work for any defects in polish areas such as pits, cracks, or poor weld quality. Have the part repaired as necessary to conform to specifications.
- Repair any welded or material flaws detected by welding or inspection.
- Deburr and wash as necessary any threaded or non-rounded machined parts.
- Enter labor time and piece counts on the computer for accurate labor recording.
SKILLS
- Ability to read, write, and process all computer work instructions.
- Proven ability to learn new tasks.
- Ability to interpret all specifications on each work order.
- Must have good manual hand dexterity and good eyesight.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A minimum of two (2) years of polishing experience is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. This job may occasionally require loading and unloading extremely heavy parts with the aid of lifting devices. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORKING CONDITIONS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.
The noise level in the work environment can be above moderate at times.
