Summary
The Policy and Advocacy Manager will support the Child Care Action Council’s effort to build a high quality child care system with well qualified staff that are representative of the children in care. The position will work closely with Child Care Aware of Washington (CCA of WA) staff to carry out a state-wide universal access/living wages campaign for workers in the child care and early learning industry.
Reports to: Executive Director
Office Location:Olympia, WA
Status:Non-Exempt, 25 hours per week to start.
Applicant review process will begin 12/21/2023, open until filled.
Duties
General Regional Grassroots Mobilization:Staff the regional work of the universal access/living wages campaign for workers in the child care and early learning industry and serve as part on CCA of WA’s grassroots statewide coordination team.
Build a regional Provider Mobilization Cohort to support the universal access/living wages campaign. Recruit/retain provider cohort(s) with at least 10 active child care educators and support them in carrying out advocacy related work

Build a regional Parent MobilizationCohort to support the universal access/living wages campaign. Create/sustain grassroots advocacy cohort(s) of parents with compelling child care stories to share.
Build a regional Business Mobilization Cohort who will actively support the campaign with community messaging and policymaker engagement.
Requirements
·Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
·Three years of advocacy experience with a nonprofit.
·Proven management capabilities.
·Strong verbal communications skills and demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively.
·Demonstrated ability to think strategically and possess thorough understanding of strategic development.
·Strong partnership-building.
·Good computer skills and knowledge of data base programs including.
·This position requires travel within the six counties that CCAC serves and occasional travel out of the region.
·Successfully pass a thorough background check
·Hold a current, valid driver’s license
·Have reliable personal transportation and vehicle liability insurance.
. Have proof of Covid 19 vaccination.
