Primary Objective
This part time position will average 28 hours per week with flexible hours between 8am-6pm Monday-Friday. Hybrid work arrangement is possible upon completion of the probationary period.

Examples of Duties
- Performs data entry (i.e., citations, reports, etc.)
- Directs incoming scheduled appointments, phone calls and public inquiries to appropriate personnel
- Transcribes, records, duplicates and files investigative statements, videos and digital media
- Monitors and administers multiple database applications; compiles statistical data and reports
- Acquires and maintains knowledge of the Minnesota Data Practices Act regarding classification of data released; responsible for researching matters related to data practices and dissemination of information
- Appropriately routes police department offense reports
- Develops and releases specialized crime reports for media
- Maintains Registered Sex Offender registration forms and related reports
- Generates reports and maintains statistical data required by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension
- Assists in compiling and electronically sending investigative files to the City and County Prosecutor's offices; processes all paperwork for court
- Performs background checks for law enforcement, local government, private citizens, city personnel, Hennepin County, Liquor and Gun Permit applications, and adoption agencies
- Provides system function support
- Monitors and audits fingerprint and photo imaging submissions to the state for accuracy and quality
- Researches and executes/resolves court orders for expungements and Criminal History Suspense Files
- Be available for occasional call-ins
- Works various shifts and schedules when required and assigned
- Other duties as apparent and assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Knowledge of laws, regulations and procedures related to the release of information of Police Records
- Knowledge of law enforcement administrative policies and procedures, local police agencies, legal terminology, local government, and operations of City divisions
- Knowledge of Data Privacy Laws
- Skill in prioritizing one’s work and completing assignments accurately with attention to detail
- Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing, with the public, employees, and others in an effective, tactful, and courteous manner
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff, other City department personnel, and the general public
- Ability to take responsibility for one's work by anticipating and planning workloads by being punctual, adaptable, and accountable in one's daily work assignments
- Ability to work under time pressures and conflicting demands
Minimum/Desirable Qualifications
- High school degree or equivalent
- Three years general clerical experience, including customer service experience
- Accurately type a minimum of 60 words per minute with accuracy
- Experience with Microsoft Office
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
- Work experience providing administrative support in a law enforcement, local government or public safety office
- Training in or knowledge of the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act
- Experience with processing/responding to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests
- Experience making copies of 9-1-1 calls, body camera videos, and patrol car camera videos
Supplemental Information
Anticipated Hiring Range: $29.48 – $31.27 Hourly
Part-Time; Non-Exempt; Non-Union; Benefits Eligible
Ongoing Part-Time employees who are employed for more than 6 months will make contributions to the pension program (PERA) through payroll deductions unless they qualify for one of the exemptions. In addition, Part-Time may receive Paid-time Off (PTO) at rate outlined in employee handbook and eligable for paid parental leave after 6 months of employment.
Temporary/Seasonal employees do not receive benefits outside of Paid-time Off (PTO) at rate outlined in employee handbook.
