The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) invites you to apply today to be considered for a position that provides customer service to the citizens of Maryland every day. The MTA is one of the largest transit systems in the United States and is seeking dynamic and energetic individuals to join the MTA team.
The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) is recruiting for Police Monitoring Facility Technician. The Police Monitoring Facility Technician is a journey level of technical monitoring center operations work involving closed circuit televisions, alarms, and sensors throughout the State of Maryland. Employees will operate state of the art, computerized monitoring systems installed in MTA facilities. Beyond monitoring the various computer systems and alarms, employees will be expected to interact with law enforcement personnel, the public, allied agencies, and MTA management. Employees will operate computer systems and communications equipment. Employees in this class do not supervise but may provide guidance and advice to less experienced technicians.
Employees receive general supervision from a Technical Services Supervisor I or other designated official as determined by the MTA Police.
This position is located in Baltimore City, Maryland.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Applicant must be 18 years of age and graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate recognized by the State of Maryland Board of Education.
EXPERIENCE: One(1) year of experience working in Law Enforcement or one (1) year experience of professional work where the monitoring of CCTV was the primary duty, and/or working in a dispatch center (i.e. police, fire, EMT), or two (2) years experience working in security.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Employee may be subject to call-in 24 hours a day 7 days a week, and may be required to maintain a reliable communication link for the purpose of emergency call back requirements.
2. Employees must be able to work variable hours and days including nights, weekends, holidays, and are subject to call back during scheduled off hours, as the Monitoring Center will be operating 24 hours 7 days a week
3. Employees in this position will be considered essential employees are required to report for work even when liberal leave is declared for State of Maryland employees.
4. Eligible applicants will be subject to a comprehensive and extensive background investigation and criminal history investigation under Federal and State laws and regulations. A conviction is not an automatic disqualification to employment. Erroneous, misleading or fraudulent information on the application is sufficient grounds for rejection from the hiring process, removal from the list of eligibles, withdraw of an offer for employment or immediate discharge.
5. Employees in this classification are subject to pre-employment drug testing and substance abuse testing in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations 49-Federal Department of Transportation Drug Alcohol Testing Protocols and Federal Transit Administration Alcohol Testing Rules and Transportation Code of Maryland Regulations 11.02.11, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
