The Focus on the Family Internship Program provides valuable experience, professional and spiritual development, and lasting friendships for over 30 college upperclassmen each summer. Focus on the Family is a Christian non-profit media ministry that offers practical, everyday help to families at every age and stage of their journey. Podcast Programming is responsible for producing the various podcasts for the Focus on the Family Podcast Network. As an intern in this area, you will be involved in development and research for podcast episodes, guest interviews, and writing scripts and other related aspects of development for potential future audio programming.
What a day in the life looks like:
- Research - read books & do internet research on potential guests and topics to determine viability for future podcast episodes.
- Interview potential guests - conduct phone interviews with potential guests to determine their capabilities as a future podcast guest. Select short excerpts from the interview to share with Podcast Programming team.
- Pitch podcast episode ideas - based upon the research on potential guests, present a rationale for why a specific topic & guest should be considered for a future episode.
- Provide additional writing/script development - assist podcast producers with script writing for existing audio programming.
- Attend programming meetings - participate in team discussions re: current & future Podcast Programming.
- Work on your final project - plan, develop & research a potential future podcast episode from beginning concept to final prep. If possible, record a "demo" version of the podcast episode.

What makes you an ideal candidate for the Podcast Programming team:
- Broadcasting (TV/Radio/Podcast), Journalism, or Communications major or similar.
- Developing research skills
- Excellent writing skills
- Organized, self-motivated, and confident
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Highly professional, especially when interacting with outside talent and guests
As a non-profit ministry, Focus on the Family is committed to hiring staff and interns who are dedicated to sharing the Gospel. Therefore, all candidates must be:

- Pursuing the Great Commission given by Jesus Christ in Matthew 28:19-20, "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."
- A consistent witness for Jesus Christ; maintaining a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Focus; adhering to the Standard of Moral Conduct and Statement of Faith; upholding Focus on the Family's ministry in prayer

Additional Notes:
This position is an intern position only. There will be no compensation or pay with this position, but a $2500 honorarium, workday lunch, and housing for out-of-town students will be provided.
Only upperclassmen college students need apply for the summer internship.
Transportation is the responsibility of the intern and may be a condition of acceptance.
