Are you passionate about podcasting and video production? Are you skilled in editing audio and video content to create engaging and visually appealing episodes? We have an exciting opportunity for a Podcast and Video Editor at Catholic Answers in Dallas, Texas, with occasional travel to Kansas City. As part of our team, you’ll be responsible for editing episodes of the popular “Counsel of Trent” podcast, including turning audio episodes into captivating videos for YouTube. Additionally, you’ll edit episodes of “Shameless Popery,” upload content to various platforms, create eye-catching thumbnails, and even have the chance to participate in live video interviews. Responsibilities:
- Edit two video episodes and one audio episode of “Counsel of Trent” weekly.
- Friday audio episodes will also be converted into videos for a separate YouTube channel.
- Each episode ranges from 15-30 minutes, with longer dialogue episodes lasting 1-2 hours (minimal editing required).
- Add jump cuts, stock footage, animations, text overlays, sound effects, and other elements to enhance viewer engagement.
- Utilize provided scripts by Trent Horn for editing guidance.
- Incorporate links to related content within “Counsel of Trent” episodes.
- Apply audio filtering techniques (levels, EQ) for audio cleanup.
- Perform color correction on final video footage.
- Edit one 60-minute episode of “Shameless Popery” weekly, including syncing video/audio/PowerPoint slides and adding relevant clips.
- Upload podcasts to YouTube, Patreon, Soundcloud, and other audio hosting sites.
- Create visually appealing thumbnails for all “Counsel of Trent” and “Shameless Popery” videos.
- Create clips and YouTube shorts from podcast content to drive engagement.
- Live video switch for 1-2 in-person interviews monthly at the Dallas “Counsel of Trent” Studio (or add camera cuts during editing until in-person interviews resume).
- Monitor equipment at the Dallas studio and occasionally travel to Kansas City for studio upgrades related to “Shameless Popery.”
Qualifications:
- A practicing Catholic with a deep love of the Catholic faith and a strong knowledge of the Magisterium
- Proficiency in video and audio editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Audacity).
- Knowledge of audio filtering techniques (levels, EQ) for audio cleanup.
- Experience in color correction for video footage.
- Familiarity with creating engaging visual content for YouTube and other platforms.
- Ability to work with provided scripts and follow editing guidelines.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for studio upgrades or in-person interviews.
- Previous experience in podcast/video editing or a related field is preferred.
This role requires a creative and technically skilled individual who can handle multiple tasks related to podcast and video production, ensuring high-quality content delivery for “Counsel of Trent” and “Shameless Popery.”
Full-time, willing to re-locate to Dallas, 3-6 months of remote working.
