Job description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

  • Must be able to pass a stick 6G pipe test with 6010 root and 7018 hot pass and cap.
  • Must be able to perform basic math and read a tape measure.
  • Fit pipe for welder, Pipe fitting experience is a plus.
  • Install heating, chilled & steam systems
  • Sanitary waste/vent, storm, domestic water, and plumbing fixtures/trim and equipment (water heaters, sump pumps etc.)
  • Layout and install hangers for system installation
  • Be able to work off drawings (structural, architectural, civil, plumbing, mechanical and cut sheets) and understand how plumbing / piping systems work.
  • Ability to take off and communicate tools and material requirements to the supervisor
  • Other duties will be assigned as needed.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with employees and supervisory personnel.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical fundamentals of plane and solid geometry. Ability to measure, layout and use basic math skills working with fractions and decimals.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Other Skills and Abilities Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the welding trade. Skill in the welding of ferrous and nonferrous metals. Ability to read and independently work from plans, sketches, diagrams, and blueprints.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
