Information about the Company: Cenveo is a leading North American manufacturer of approximately 30 billion envelopes annually. We are hiring immediately for an experienced Pre-Press Operator (Plate Maker) for its manufacturing facility in Kent, WA.
Job Summary
Under general supervision, produces plates using digital and conventional platemaking equipment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)

• Apply common sense understanding and problem solving to solve abstract variables.
• Reads and interprets specifications, layout/imposition, press schedules.
• Clearly communicate order clarifications and requests for a positive resolution.
• Selects plate size and type, master, and punch plate.
• Operates contact frame and plate processor; Organizes proofs and plates; routes plates as instructed.
• Records work performed and plate usage and updates job tracking system and press schedule.
• Tests and calibrates exposures; Compares plate to proof and imposition; identifies each plate.
• Assist in promoting safety efforts for the facility.
• Inspects plate quality and coordinates plate remakes; Maintains prepress equipment.
• Crosstrain in similar job functions to facilitate seamless coverage as needed, process and proofing customer files.
• Working knowledge of computer platforms, i.e. Adobe products a plus.
• Identify opportunities and make recommendations for improvements in the department.
• Solid ability to self-motivate, change tasks and direction quickly to meet multiple deadlines with minimal direction.

Other (Non-Essential) Functions
Includes functions which are normally performed by persons holding this title. However, these functions may be reassigned to other employees as part of a "Reasonable Accommodation" under the ADA.

Physical Requirements Environmental Conditions

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.
• The position requires the incumbent to occasionally lift, push, pull and carry minimal weights if needed with or without assistance.
• This position requires the incumbent to grasp objects utilizing manual dexterity including hand/finger coordination and the utilization of color vision.
• Exposure to noise; must wear hearing protection and safety shoes.
• Employee must have the ability to remain standing for an entire shift.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Previous experience in electronic prepress / platemaking or equivalent.
• Ability to operate hand tools.
• Knowledge of federal and state hazardous waste handling and disposal regulations.
• Ability to measure accurately using fractions, metric increments, addition, and subtraction.
• Ability to make comparative judgments related to screen values/tone perception (screen tints, dot percentage evaluation).
