Alpine Tree Service, LLC was founded in 2002 by Chuck Thompson to provide tree service to customers in Grand Junction, CO and the surrounding communities. Since opening, we have grown from a one man operation with a pickup truck and a chainsaw into a reputable company with a crew of 15+, a business manager, four ISA Certified Arborists, a Plant Health Care department, two bucket trucks, two stump grinders, three grapple trucks, two spider lifts, four chippers, and other equipment. Our company serves the Grand Valley from Fruita to Palisade.

We are one of the oldest and the highest rated arboriculture company in Grand Junction. We pride ourselves on doing the best of the best for our trees and outstanding customer service. Our goal is to best support our community through our canopy.

This job will have a starting date anywhere between March 20, 2024 and April 1, 2024. The ideal candidate will be someone truly interested in trees, plants, and nature who can come in with a willingness to learn and share knowledge. Any background in horticulture, forestry, nurseries, botany, arboriculture, or pesticide application will be a plus. This job will start off as part time but has the likelihood of becoming more if the hired technician would be interested in that.

JOB DUTIES

• To learn and practice safe handling procedures for various insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, and miticides.
• To learn and be able to differentiate between various types of pesticides.
• To learn and apply various tree treatment techniques including but not limited to soil drenching, foliar spraying, trunk injecting, soil injecting, trunk spraying, etc.
• To learn and be able to differentiate between common tree species found in the Grand Valley.
• Daily duties include driving a PHC treatment truck, talking with various customers, spending the majority of time under trees throughout the day, working with another PHC technician, and performing a variety of different tree treatment techniques.
• Application and understanding of various scientific topics spanning several scientific disciplines including but not limited to Biology, Botany, Arboriculture, Horticulture, Chemistry, etc.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Must be 18 years old or older.
• Ability to maintain a great work ethic while working outside all day.
• Patient. Trees are slow and sometimes we have to be also in order to work with them.
• Ambition and a desire to learn.
• Passion for the outdoors.
• Good communication and active listening skills.
• Valid driver's license.
• Able to work mornings.
• Ability to work well with others.
• Previous experience with PHC or arboriculture is a plus but absolutely not a necessity. In house training will be provided and a willingness to learn will be the most important trait.

Job Types: Part-time, Seasonal

Pay: From $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24 per week
