Job description

Title: Plant Accountant I 
Company: Tampa Electric Company 
State and City: Florida - Tampa
Shift: 8 Hr. X 5 Days

 

 

POSITION CONCEPT 
The Plant Accountant is mainly responsible for the preparation, maintenance and monitoring of activities related to plant accounting for TEC.  These activities include but are not limited to project analysis/reconciliation/unitization/closure, monitoring in-service dates, research and analysis, and other ad-hoc information requests.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Review in-service dates, work with field locations to confirm and adjust as necessary.
  • Review monthly capital charges for appropriateness; close capital projects when complete.
  • Make retirements from CPR when necessary.
  • Provide ad-hoc management reports/information as requested.
  • Respond to Plant Accounting related questions from field personal and other departments.
  • Support Business Planning, Regulatory, Tax departments, and Operating areas as requested.

 

QUALIFICATIONS
Education 

  • Required:    Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, or Related field from an accredited college/university in accordance with TECO Energy’s education policy

Related Experience 

  • Required:    Minimum of 0-2 years of financial work experience
  • Preferred:    Regulated utility plant accounting or regulated utility operations experience 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA) 

  • Required:    Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Preferred:    Proficiency in all Microsoft Office Applications and experience with PowerPlant
