Our client, a Major Telecommunications provider, is looking to hire a Planning & Design Engineer to support their Operations in Pittsburg, PA.
The Planning & Design Engineer is responsible for construction coordination and the planning and designing of broadband communication systems. Works with the project team to design systems and determine project specifications. Creates construction jobs, ensures proper documentation is available to proceed, assesses nearby jobs for synergies, conducts point-to-point design and reserves wavelengths, and is tightly aligned with the network plan group to ensure the builds are holistic.
Core Responsibilities:

• Assists with project status to ensure progress toward completion and required procedural steps are completed to the fullest and promptly.
• Creates construction jobs from a variety of intake sources. Validate documentation and information available to proceed. Where needed, obtain additional information to move the job forward.
• Leverages Plan tools to assess nearby jobs for integration.
• Participates in the design of broadband communication systems using various design software packages. Prepares special keys, charts, diagrams, and graphic drawings for use within other departments. Updates and maintains system maps, keys, and design files. Tracks and keeps current system spreadsheets and documents.
• Prepares mapping for internal customers
• Maintains 811 data entry to state entities,
• Reviews periodic pole audits from other utilities
• Analyzes data from AeGIS as needed for internal customers
• Manage and Prioritize Jobs
• Use P2 to manage jobs and stay on schedule
• Manage projects and Pole audits that are all processed through GIS software
• Manage design or QC errors
• Report as needed to team leaders
• Liaise with stakeholders
• Attend meetings with Project Coordinators as needed
• Coordinate between NED design and BPs or internal customers
• Help define the scope of work or final product of QGIS analysis or mapping

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts, Engineering, or GIS or Equivalent Experience
• 2-5 years related experience

Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s), and overtime as necessary.
