You will oversee all aspects of Planning and Zoning, from reviewing and approving applications to developing and implementing long-term plans. You will also work with other city departments and the public to ensure our city grows sustainably and equitably.

YOUR NEW ROLE As a Planning and Zoning Manager, you will:

• Review and ensure compliance of planning, zoning, variance, and sign applications with City ordinances.
• Conduct pre-submittal meetings for public hearing applicants and manage the application process.
• Supervise and develop direct reports, oversee consultants, and manage planning projects.
• Assist in developing city ordinances affecting the Community Development Department.
• Report regularly on key performance indicators and Zoning case statuses.
• Identify and address problems related to suburban planning, transportation, grants, and municipal growth.
• Plan, develop, and manage future land use projects using current planning practices.
• Serve on committees to implement the adopted Comprehensive Plan.
• Collaborate with city departments to resolve growth management, transportation, and land-use issues.
• Monitor the City's compliance with approved funding programs and prepare required reports.
• Research and collect data related to comprehensive planning, text amendments, and development of master plans.
• Perform assigned duties and responsibilities.

REQUIREMENTS

• A Bachelor's Degree or higher with a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in urban planning, zoning administration, or a related field is required.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
• Expertise in Euclidian and form-based zoning codes, smart growth, shared parking, and new urbanism practices.
• Proven collaboration with the public, governmental agencies, Chambers of Commerce, and businesses in team environments.
• Experience in governmental grant writing/administration.
• Flexible schedule for evening meetings (up to four times a month).
• Knowledge of city government projects, programs, and relevant state/federal laws, including Chattahoochee River Corridor requirements.
