POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Planned and Major Gifts Officer is responsible for executing the day-to-day operations of activities listed below. This position works in close collaboration with the Board, CEO, our Healthy Futures Campaign team, and Volunteers. This is a full-time position with occasional night/weekend hours.

MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for developing and executing strategies for donor identification, qualification, cultivation, and solicitation working closely with both our Development and our Analytics and Logistics teams.
  • Deliver outstanding service to NKFM’s donors and to people with and at risk of kidney disease.
  • Provide strong leadership together with NKFM teams for donor cultivation and engagement.
  • Work closely with our analytics team to obtain up to date lists and reports on potential and current donors.
  • Have extensive knowledge of development data reporting systems and how to best utilize these systems to increase major/planned giving.
  • Qualifies a portfolio to a workable number of donors (~100)
  • Conducts a minimum of 12 documented donor calls and face to face (when possible) visits weekly.
  • Identifies, cultivates, and solicits planned gifts of all types including wills/bequests/stock transfers, etc.
  • Be a member in good standing of the Planned Giving Roundtable of Michigan and the Association of Fundraising Professionals – Greater Detroit Chapter.
  • Ensures that donor information is entered in NKFM’s organization database in a standardized, timely and accurate manner. Work closely with the data team for pulling reports and updating NKFM leadership monthly.
  • Meets the goals set annually for revenue growth, expectancies secure, and number of visits
  • Develops strategies that contribute to the retention of annual, major and planned gifts
  • Works well with NKFM staff, volunteers, foundation, and board members to ensure goals and objectives are met.
  • Helps coordinate, communicate, and implement major donor and planned giving donor events.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of a comprehensive stewardship plan, with focus on major and planned donors for campaign and special giving priorities, and track progress on this portion of the plan to ensure donors feel informed and appreciated;
  • Execute/Oversight special events aimed at cultivating and stewarding major and planned gift donors and prospects;
  • Provide regular reports on major and planned gift activity and contribute stories that celebrate leadership and Major giving in school publications and in newsletters
  • Identify and manage volunteers, including board members, as determined necessary to achieving major and planned giving goals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
