Job description

The tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the position as necessary.
  • Inspects sewer lines using television inspection equipment to determine and record sewer conditions and problems.
  • Performs the cleaning of sewer lines, treatment plants and lift stations; pressure-cleans and mechanically cleans manholes and sewer lines; removes roots and debris as necessary; clears stoppages from lines and manholes; chemically treats root-infested lines as necessary.
  • Assists in the rehabilitation of manholes and lines.
  • Installs and maintains flow monitoring and rain gauge equipment.
  • Performs above- and below-ground physical inspections and smoke and dye tests on sewer lines.
  • Collects and compiles flow monitoring data; drafts maps of areas being studied.
  • Transports equipment and supplies to and from work sites.
  • Efficient Operation of heavy and specialized equipment as necessary, including but not limited to television inspection van, jet truck, cleaner / vacuum combination truck, trailers, bucket truck, tractors, etc.; operates gas detectors and various hand and power tools.
  • GPS data Gathering
  • Utility Locating of sewer infrastructure assets and components.
  • Performs ARV maintenance on Force main system ARVs.
  • Provides traffic control at work sites to ensure citizen / crew safety.
  • Performs all work in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, regulations, and standards of safety.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of work performed.
  • Inspects equipment for proper and safe working condition; maintains assigned vehicles, tools, and equipment.
  • Receives and responds to inquiries, complaints, and requests for assistance in areas of responsibility.
  • Works on call 24 hours per day as scheduled for emergency response.
  • Attends meetings, training, seminars, etc., as appropriate to enhance job knowledge and skills.

Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Requires a high school diploma, GED, or specialized vocational training.
  • Must possess a valid state Position "A" CDL driver's license with tanker endorsement.
  • Must possess confined space entry certification.
  • Must obtain a NASSCO/PACP/MACP/LACP Certification.
  • May be required to obtain additional technical / safety certifications as deemed necessary by supervisor.
  • Level D Collection System Certification or two (2) years of related experience.
