Position Summary
The Pipe Welder is responsible for inspecting materials, maintaining tools, performing pre-welding preparations, and welding components according to specifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
- Determine the required tools, materials and welding methods.
- Assemble, install and repair pipe components and systems according to specifications.
- Inspect and maintain materials, equipment, and tools.
- Prepare working materials by clamping, cutting or applying chemical solutions to piping.
- Examine completed welds to ensure they are free of defects, smooth, and functional.
- Adhere to all company safety/OSHA rules and regulations.
- The ability to work overtime and regular, punctual attendance is required.
Qualifications
High school diploma/GED required. Minimum of three years’ of experience as a Pipe Welder. Working knowledge of AWS, API, ANSI, and ASME codes and standards. Knowledge and experience with welding equipment and processes. Ability to troubleshoot and strong attention to detail. Excellent technical skills and the ability to interpret schematics. Good communication skills. Physical dexterity. Must be able to read and comprehend welding instructions.
Physical Demands
Must able to lift in excess of 100 pounds frequently and climb in excess of 300 feet. Must be able to pull own weight when climbing steel bracing or ladders. . Frequent amounts of bending, stooping, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling. Exposed to temperature fluctuations, loud noises, dusty environment, and voltage electromagnetic fields.
