Skilled Trades Services has immediate openings for Certified Pipe Welders for projects in the Rock Hill, SC / Charlotte, NC area. We are looking for LOCAL candidates ONLY as there is NO per diem on this project.
Job Summary:
The Commercial Pipe Welder will be responsible for welding both carbon steel and copper pipe according to established safety and quality procedures. Additionally, they will be expected to assist with moving materials and installing pipe hangers when not welding. This is a full-time position with a pay scale ranging from $24-$28 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities:
Welding pipes: The primary responsibility of the Commercial Pipe Welder is to weld pipes using welding equipment and tools. They must be experienced in welding both carbon steel and copper pipes and follow safety and quality procedures to ensure that the job is completed correctly.
Material handling: The Commercial Pipe Welder will assist with moving materials, tools, and equipment to job sites as needed. They may also help with unloading and loading materials from trucks and carrying them to the appropriate location.
Installing pipe hangers: The Commercial Pipe Welder may be asked to assist in the installation of pipe hangers when not welding. This includes measuring and marking the location for the hangers, drilling holes, and mounting the hangers securely.
Maintaining equipment: The Commercial Pipe Welder will be responsible for maintaining welding equipment, tools, and other materials used in the job. They will keep the equipment clean, lubricated, and properly stored to ensure it functions correctly and is readily available when needed.
Adhering to safety guidelines: The Commercial Pipe Welder must comply with all safety guidelines and regulations set forth by the company and OSHA. They must wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE), including welding gloves, sleeves, and a welding shield, to minimize the risk of injury.
Qualifications:
Experience: The Commercial Pipe Welder must have experience welding both carbon steel and copper pipes. They should have a minimum of two years of experience in commercial pipe welding.
Tools: The Commercial Pipe Welder must have all necessary hand tools, including a welding machine, welding gloves, sleeves, and a welding shield.
Physical fitness: The Commercial Pipe Welder should be physically fit and able to lift heavy materials, bend, stoop, and work in tight spaces.
Communication skills: The Commercial Pipe Welder should have good communication skills to be able to work in a team environment and understand project specifications.
Safety awareness: The Commercial Pipe Welder should be safety-conscious and familiar with OSHA guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
