Pipe Layers

Responsibilities:
***Must have experience installing ductile iron pipe and working around existing utilities.

• Align and position pipes to prepare them for joining.
• Check slopes and alignment for conformance to requirements, using levels or lasers and transits.
• Connect pipe pieces and seal joints, using cement, glue, or mechanical fasteners.
• Cut pipes to required lengths.
• Dig trenches to desired or required depths, by hand or using trenching tools.
• Grade and level trench bases, using tamping machines and hand tools.
• Install and repair sanitary and storm water sewer structures and pipe systems.
• Tap and drill holes into pipes to introduce auxiliary lines or devices.
• Knowledge of working around heavy equipment and rigging
• Knowledgeable in safe and professional practices in pipe testing

• Proven work experience as a Pipe Layer.
• Detailed knowledge of construction and pipe fitting techniques.
• Knowledge of sewer systems, storm drains, and water mains.
• Experience with machine-operated trenching tools (ramex, jumping jack).
• Experience with pipe cutting saws (Stihl cut off saw)
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Excellent physical fitness with the ability to lift heavy objects.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to work outdoors in harsh weather conditions.
