Job Summary Pilot Driver
The pilot driver is responsible for escorting trucks delivering sheds to customers. The pilot driver will review the route for delivery, stay ahead and/or behind the truck, using precise attention to prevent accidents and/or problems. Ensure the pilot truck(s) are maintained and repairs are done in a timely manner. The position will work diligently to maintain a 5-star customer experience throughout the delivery process.
Responsibilities for Pilot Driver
- Lead and/or follow the delivery truck ensuring safety at all times.
- Complete check of vehicle, beacon lights, oversize load signs and flags.
- Demonstrate up to date knowledge and understanding of route for the day
- Maintain a clean vehicle; ensures windows are cleaned daily.
- Monitor tires for proper air pressure and normal wear.
- Ensure all time sheets and logs are completed daily.
- Record mileage accurately and track service needs.
- Ensure all lights, signs, flags, safety equipment and vehicles are in good operating condition.
- Assist with installing and leveling buildings using IAW Ulrich procedures.
- Ensure 5-star customer service by demonstrating the "Ulrich Experience" which includes but is not limited to interacting with team members and management as necessary.
- Comply with all DOT regulations during the operation of the delivery vehicle.
Requirements for Pilot Driver
- Valid driver license
- Current VA escort driver certification
- No violations on driving record
- Ability to meet physical demands of the job during installation of building
- Must be able to stoop, bend, climb, kneel, crouch, crawl as needed.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally and 10-20 lbs. as needed.
- Ability to work effectively with both customers and team members.
- Ability to convey a positive and professional image to customers and employees.
- Excellent attention to detail with ability to be proactive and operate with a sense of urgency.
- Ability to adapt to a changing and a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work tasks.
- Good reasoning abilities and sound judgment.
- 1 year of professional driving experience
Working Conditions for Pilot Driver
- Constant exposure to weather and outside elements
- Some overnight travel may be required
