SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Extra board must have knowledge of all Amtrak/Metra trains. Continuously update the PIDS boards, program arrivals and departures. Clearly and professionally speak Amtrak and public service announcements. Must have knowledge of and be familiar with the proper use of radio equipment as outlined by Amtrak. Monitor building maintenance computer system and report all failures to the proper authority.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Schedule all service disruption transportation and accommodations
  • Work with CNOC, District Station Managers and applicable transportation officials to ensure the desired results are met
  • Complete Travel vouchers for distress passengers, generate connection reports and maintain passenger inconvenience reports, per policy
  • Schedule all alternate transportation as requested and required
  • Create typed passenger logs of the bus accommodations
  • Create typed hotel accommodations of all passengers requiring hotel stays

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be Arrow/ Rail Res qualified
  • Responsible for generating reports to assist in aiding passengers ' travel—groups, wheelchairs lift and MAAS
  • Must clear all, create and disseminate re—accommodation information for distressed travelers
  • Must communicate with all departments and station managers regarding delays and potential delay of all trains
  • Must maintain accurate records of all sets, arrivals, departures
  • Must comply with Amtrak' s Standards of Excellence, rules of conduct and safety procedures


COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills


The hourly range is $ 27.08-$36.11 (with opportunity for increases, as per the applicable collective bargaining agreement, after beginning employment). In accordance with federal law governing security checks of covered individuals for providers of public transportation (Title 6 U.S.C. §1143), Amtrak is required to screen applicants for any permanent or interim disqualifying criminal offenses.
