Primary Care Physician
On- Call (phone or onsite) Part time and Full time opportunities in Portland, OR

Corrections Health is flexible on FTE (Full-time or part time) and is willing to work with the incoming provider.
As a Physician in Corrections Health, you will be responsible for the provision of direct patient care to incarcerated persons. As well as working closely with the Medical Director to assure protocols, standards of care and health department guidelines are incorporated into care delivery. On-Call duties can be carried out by phone, for onsite team outreach and prescription assistance. Flexible schedule, and a great opportunity for a Physician who is already employed, and wants to offer a few hours a week to provide community support. There are also part-time and full time on-site opportunities.
Physicians also provide medical consultation to the nurses, nurse practitioners and physician assistants.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Clinical Care
- The primary responsibility for ambulatory primary care is at the assigned clinic location which includes emergency, infirmary and chronic care delivery.
- Review client records for needs of medications, treatments, education or referrals.
- Perform comprehensive health assessments of clients by completing a physical and psychosocial history.
- Identify actual and potential health needs based on medical, mental/emotional, financial, and social factors.
- Prescribe and dispense medications.
- Initiate and/or continue medical regimes for new patients as well as chart treatment records and monitor results.
- Establish appropriate treatment plans for clients.
- Respond to in jail emergency situations in the clinic or housing and develop plans of care.
Consultation
- Provide clinical consultation to other providers, healthcare staff and supervisors.
- Provide educational expertise and evaluate care within the facility.
- Participate in collaborative treatment with other medical and mental health professionals and staffs.
- Participate in peer review.
Provide On call provider coverage 24 hours a day as scheduled on the monthly calendar coordinated by the Medical Director.
Giving input into procedures and protocols.
Attend provider meetings as scheduled as well as attend morning shift report and contribute to patient care planning and identification of patient needs.
Education/Training/Experience:
- Graduation from an accredited school of Medicine
- One (1) year residency in a primary care setting
