Physician (Md)

The Physician is responsible for performing routine examinations to ensure patient health. The duties include speaking with patients about healthy lifestyle choices for their age, completing diagnostic tests to help diagnose and treat patients for injuries or illnesses, and coordinating with other healthcare professionals to maintain updated medical records.

Patient Care

· Initial assessment of the new patient.

· Follow up and monitoring of patient care.

· Records and signs all pertinent information in the patient's chart.

· Interviews patients and records - chief complaint, past and present patient history, social history, family history, medication histories, measures, and records vital signs. Follows evaluation and management guidelines.

· Instruct patients in the collection of samples and tests.

· Performs examinations, treatments, and procedures.

· Observe, record, and report the patient's condition and reaction to drugs and treatments.

· Demonstrates thorough knowledge of infection control procedures; strictly adheres to policies and procedures; washes hands or uses hand sanitizer before and after each patient contact.

· Respond to telephone requests while on shift.

· Instruct patients regarding medication and treatment instructions.

· Post tests and examination results to charts.

· Explains and distributes patient education material and videos.

· Answers patients’ questions during clinic visits.

· Documents all information for charting

· Records fees, level of service, and diagnosis to patients to electronic medical records (EMR).

Patient Records and Recall

· Checks patient chart for completeness (reports/referrals, etc.)

· Complete all patient charting for the day by the end of the shift or within the 72-hour window.

· Completes all EMRs daily.

· Checks on critical patients from the previous day or patients referred to the emergency room for further evaluation.

· Maintains patient confidentiality 100% of the time; demonstrates complete discretion when discussing patient information.

Other

· Supervisory responsibility of Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants as state regulations require.

· Participates in continuing education and different appropriate experiences to maintain and enhance professional competence.

· Performs quarterly chart audits and other duties necessary for Collaborative Supervision.

· Current State Medical License; CDS Controlled Substance License as applicable per prescriptive authority; DEA Drug Enforcement Agency Registration Number as applicable per prescriptive authority.

· Graduation from an accredited Medical School with the required State board exam completion.

· ACLS/BLS/PALS Certification(s) required.

· Demonstrates appropriate medical decision-making.

· Eligible for Louisiana Prescriptive Authority.

· Effective communication and leadership skills.

·Ability to effectively work in a fast-paced environment
