Howard Brown Health the largest LGBTQ organization in the Midwest is seeking a talented and passionate primary care physician focused on providing high quality healthcare services to join Dr. Todd Hargan’s practice.
Dr. Hargan is an internal medicine physician with 30 years of experience specializing in the care and treatment of HIV/STDs. He earned his medical degree and completed his residency at St. Louis University School of Medicine, where he was awarded medical student of the year his final year. Dr. Hargan has also participated in clinical research and the study of over 30 HIV clinical protocols. His philosophy of care is to focus not only on medical diagnoses, but also on an individual’s social, economic, and emotional life situations. Dr. Hargan is well known for his knowledge, compassion and responsiveness.
Interested candidates for this position will demonstrate a passion for providing healthcare services to the LGBTQ community, including preventive care, sexual health and the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic medical conditions. Internal Medicine or Family Practice physicians who possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrate flexibility, a willingness to learn and empathy for patients and are encouraged to apply.

Howard Brown Health Melrose Clinic: at 3245 N. Halsted is located in the idyllic Lakeview neighborhood on the North Side of Chicago. Close to downtown, this is a convenient location for both work and leisure. The neighborhood is adjacent to Lake Michigan, providing residents with easy access to the lakefront for outdoor activities such as biking, jogging, and swimming. What you will bring to Howard Brown Health:
- Education and/or Experience: Graduation from a college or university accredited by the American Medical Association with a Doctor of Medicine degree or accredited by the American Osteopathic Association with a doctor of Osteopathy degree. If medical education occurred at a foreign medical school, the applicant must possess a current Educational Council Foreign Medical Graduate (ECFMG) certificate. Successful completion of an approved program of residency. Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, patients and the general public.
- Knowledge: Knowledge of the principles and practice of medicine and the structure and function of community health centers.
- Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Skills in communicating effectively with patients and their families.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Active Illinois Physician licensure, plus current DEA registration, Board certification in a specialty area (must be completed within two years of employment), documentation of a Medical Degree from an accredited school of Medicine, documentation of residency completion in a specialty area from an accredited residency program and Physician National Data Bank verification of legal claims history.
