Description
Physician Assistantsor Nurse Practitioners in Women's Comprehensive Health work under the supervision of a licensed OB/GYN to assist in the global management of GYN patients, including all aspects of pre-, intra- and post-operative care. In general, WCH PAs are authorized to perform any duties delegated to them by their supervising physician that they feel comfortable performing. Often WCH PAs/NPs can take care of many routine GYN problems, freeing the surgeon to concentrate on more complex patients.
General Duties & Responsibilities
1. Performs complete evaluations on patients of all ages (pediatric through geriatric)
2. Orders and interprets appropriate lab, x-ray and special studies
3. Establishes a working diagnosis based upon acquired data
4. Develops a treatment plan for GYN conditions in accordance with current GYN practice and in conjunction with the GYN Physician
5. Implements therapeutic intervention
6. Provides appropriate follow-up care
7. Exercises judgment on conditions requiring consultation, referral or evaluation by the supervising OB/GYN or other healthcare professionals
Office Duties & Responsibilities
1. Sees new and follow-up patients and provides problem-oriented intervention for their GYN conditions
2. Presents patients, when appropriate, to the supervising physician
3. Assists in care, treatment and follow-up as needed
4. Performs and/or assists in office procedures
5. Orders and interprets lab, x-ray, special studies and clinical procedures and provides appropriate care and follow-up
6. Evaluate, screen and counsel patients on health maintenance and promotes utilization of community resources
7. Performs quality assurance
Requirements
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1-2 years of GYN experience preferred
- Graduated from an accredited Physician Assistant educational program or Masters of Science in Nursing
- Certification from American Academy of Physician Assistants
- North Carolina Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner License through NCBON required
- Knowledge of medical guidelines and procedures regarding examination, therapy and recovery
- Familiarity with advancements in medical technology and current know-how
- Excellent communication skills
- Health promotion and maintenance
- The ability to treat patients with compassion and empathy.
