Job Summary
Physical Therapist will specialize in treating patients who have recently undergone total joint replacement surgery, specifically focusing on knee or hip procedures. As a crucial member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in ensuring patients receive comprehensive and high-quality therapy during their initial treatment session prior to discharge from our ambulatory surgery center.
- This is a part-time position required to work 2-3 days per week
- Hours 9:30am-6:00pm or 10:00am-6:30pm
Duties and Responsibilities

- Conduct thorough clinical assessments of patients who have undergone total joint replacement surgery (knee, hip, and shoulder).
- Develop and implement personalized physical therapy treatment plans based on the patient's individual needs and surgical outcomes.
- Administer the first therapy treatment session to optimize early post-surgical recovery.
- Ensure that patients meet all post-surgical clinical requirements before discharge.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to gather relevant information about the patient's procedure and recovery status.
- Deliver comprehensive patient education regarding post-surgical care, exercises, and mobility strategies.
- Address any concerns or questions the patient may have related to their recovery process.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
- Clearly articulate the follow-up treatment plan to patients, including recommended exercises and activities for continued recovery.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient assessments, treatments, and progress in the electronic health record system.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and organizational documentation requirements.
- Evolve in your role when performing supplemental responsibilities as assigned
Requirements and Qualifications
- Licensed Physical Therapist in the state of NY.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in physical therapy, with a focus on total joint replacement patients.
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices in orthopedic physical therapy.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Familiarity with ambulatory surgery center settings is a plus.
- Computer skills required with minimum proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
Physical Demands
- Heavy lifting, pushing, and/or pulling of objects up to 50 lbs.
- Required to stand majority of shift.
- Close proximity to patients and coworkers .
