Job Description: Private In-Home Physical Therapist Part-Time (2-3 days a week)
Position Title: Private In-Home Physical Therapist
Overview: A Private Physical Therapist is a licensed healthcare professional responsible for providing specialized therapeutic services the client in a private in-home setting. The primary goal is to assess, diagnose, and treat musculoskeletal and movement-related conditions, helping the client regain mobility, reduce pain, and improve overall physical function. This position involves working closely with the client's family, nursing, and CNA staff to develop a personalized treatment plan and employ various therapeutic techniques to achieve optimal outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Assessment:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate clients' physical health, medical history, and specific needs.
- Perform thorough musculoskeletal examinations to identify impairments and functional limitations.
Treatment Planning:
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings, medical history, and client goals.
- Establish realistic and measurable objectives to guide the rehabilitation process.
Therapeutic Interventions:
- Administer various physical therapy techniques, exercises, and modalities to address clients' specific conditions.
- Educate the client's family and staff on proper body mechanics, posture, and home exercises to enhance treatment effectiveness.
- Be able to utilize a Tilt Table to meet the client's therapeutic needs.
- Provide written instruction for the family and staff.
Monitoring Progress:
- Regularly reassess clients' progress and modify treatment plans accordingly.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, as needed, to ensure comprehensive care.
Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of assessments, treatments, and progress notes.
- Adhere to legal and ethical standards related to patient confidentiality and documentation.
Client Education:
- Educate the client's family and staff on their conditions, treatment options, and preventive measures.
Communication:
- Collaborate with the family, referring physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a holistic approach to patient care.
- Effectively communicate with the client's family and staff to foster a positive therapeutic relationship.
Business Management:
- Manage scheduling of appointments, billing, and maintaining a professional environment.
- Stay informed about industry trends, advancements, and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) or equivalent degree from an accredited program.
- State licensure as a Physical Therapist.
- CPR certification.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
Experience:
- Previous experience in a clinical setting, preferably focusing on orthopedic or musculoskeletal conditions.
- Experience with private practice management is a plus.
