Job Summary and QualificationsThe Physical Therapist is responsible for providing therapeutic intervention, education, and recommendations to acute care and outpatients at HCA Houston Healthcare Pearland. The clinician will organize and implement physical therapy programs to restore function and prevent disability following disease, surgery or illness. This position requires proficiency in acute care and outpatient services. Responsibilities also include maintaining standards of professional and ethical practice, while providing the highest quality healthcare that is patient oriented, advanced in technology, cost effective and with care and compassion.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's of Science in Physical Therapy from an accredited Physical Therapy Program.
- Current Texas license.
- American Heart Association (Health Care Provider) required.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:
- Demonstrates the ability to perform specific competencies as listed on the Competency Validation Checklist.
- Must meet mutually agreed upon performance goals/objectives established annually as listed on the Performance Evaluation Tool.
- Demonstrates an understanding to appropriately protect sensitive and confidential information. Adheres to company policies and procedures.
- Communicates effectively, dependable, takes initiative, flexible with schedule, available to work weekend shifts, participates in program development, involved in community awareness and education.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs new patient initial evaluation and implements plans of care.
- Develops plan of care and reassesses goals frequently.
- Identifies and assesses the patient's need for special equipment.
- Maintains up to date documentation in accordance to standards of practice.
- Conducts tests and measurements of neuromuscular skeletal system.
- Communicates effectively with patients in a caring and empathetic manner regarding their diagnosis, plan of care and goals of treatment.
- Maintains and provides documentation to Pearland Medical Center of current professional licensure and CPR certification.
- Develops, organizes and participates in departmental, hospital and community in-services.
- Communicates effectively with patient's physician and nurse regarding patient's status in therapy programs.
- Assists in development of clinical educational programs
May work with combative patients. Will be expected, as directed by supervisor, to provide services for any area in the hospital in which the employee demonstrates competency.
**Must be able to work 2 weekends a month and some weekdays as needed.
