Overview:

The pediatric physical therapist coordinates the physical therapy plan of care following an evaluation as defined by State Licensure requirements. Provides skilled therapeutic rehabilitative and habilitative services to improve and maintain function, focusing on needs identified during assessment periods. They are a resource to the interdisciplinary team, applying skills of the profession to improve outcomes of persons served. The position may be inpatient or outpatient; all outpatient positions take inpatient weekend call. Actions are team oriented to successfully provide quality care and a high level of satisfaction for persons served through evidence-based practice.
Responsibilities:- Evaluates, screens, and/or re-evaluates persons referred to determine the need for skilled therapy intervention
- Carries out the treatment plan and coordinates with patient, family, significant others, and care team
- Monitors patient’s response and modifies treatment to achieve goals
- Oversees Physical Therapy students as assigned. Following licensure laws, is professionally accountable for overseeing delegated clinical tasks to the therapy technician
- Promotes professional rehabilitation objectives among interdisciplinary team members
- Develops appropriate home or community programming to maintain and enhance the performance of the patients in their own environment
- Consistently utilizes a holistic approach appropriate to the age of the patients served

Education:
Graduate from an accredited physical therapy program
Pediatric Clinical Internship
Experience:
New Graduates Accepted
Must read, write, speak, and comprehend English
Must be able to communicate effectively (written and orally) with people of diverse professional, educational and lifestyle backgrounds
One year of pediatric experience preferred
License(s)/Certification(s):
Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
Licensed or in the process of obtaining licensure to practice Physical Therapy in the State of Iowa
