What would you do as a Physical Therapist Assistant?
The Physical Therapist Assistant will assist the Physical Therapist in managing and implementing rehabilitative programs that improve patient mobility, relieve pain, increase strength, and correct disabling conditions resulting from disease or injury in a manner that places emphasis on quality patient care. You can expect to regularly:
- Plan, prepare, and carry out individually designed programs of physical treatment to maintain, improve, or restore physical functioning, alleviate pain, or prevent physical dysfunction in patients;
- Provide customer service and patient care, maintain confidentiality, and abide by HIPAA requirements.
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality to minimize impacts to clinic staffing schedules;
- Provide appropriate follow-up care when patient is discharged in collaboration with the Physical Therapist;
- Educate patients on injury prevention, ergonomics, and ways to promote orthopedic health;
- Instruct patient in use of assistive devices such as wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, and canes, as well as in-treatment procedures to be continued at home;
- Analyze patient’s health data and progress, record in electronic medical chart, and modify interventions to achieve anticipated goals and expected outcomes, including referring to other practitioners if needed;
- Test, measure and record in the electronic medical chart the patient’s strength, motor development, functional capacity, sensory perception, and respiratory and/or circulatory efficiency;
- Review physician’s referral and patient’s medical records and confer with patient and appropriate medical practitioners to plan, implement, and assess the intervention program in conjunction with the Physical Therapist;
Requirements
- Certifications/Education
- Degree from an accredited physical therapy assistant program;
- Active Physical Therapy Assistant license from Nevada State Board
Preferred Qualifications - How can you set yourself apart from other applicants?
- Two years of experience in an orthopedic rehabilitation setting
Note: This position requires the incumbent to obtain a current CPR certification within 30 days of hire.
This position operates in a clinical environment. Exposure to communicable diseases, biohazards, toxic substances, and similar conditions is possible.
Physical: The noise level is usually moderate.
Travel: This position may require travel to other clinic locations based on manager discretion.
Schedule: Work hours and schedule could change based on company need.
