This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company's locations: Summit Club, set outside of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Discovery Land Company is seeking a Physical Security Design Engineer to join the Security Department.

 

This position will be responsible for providing security infrastructure support for the overall risk management and security operations strategies to ensure the safety and well-being of members, guests, and staff throughout our global communities as directed by the VP of Global Security and the Director of Corporate Safety and Security. Coordinate and manage efforts with any independent contractors supporting project(s).

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with key stakeholders and coordinate with external companies to complete work on scope, on time and on budget.
  • Educate stakeholders on system capabilities, best use cases, and reduce consumption gap along with assistance in programming of systems to best meet the needs of operations and boost efficiency.
  • Be available for stakeholders as needed in help desk format relative to security technology to include troubleshooting system problems, program updates, and investigations.
  • Attend routine meetings with stakeholders and identify and address any gaps found in security and safety measures as well as corporate expectations with special attention to plans changing after initial designs.
  • Liaison with both development teams and operations teams to provide custom tailored fit solutions to best support the operational teams throughout development to completion, ensuring corporate guidelines are met.
  • Build positive relationships with stakeholders, third party vendors, partners, and various DLC corporate teams to ensure all parties are coordinating properly and are meeting proper timelines and kept informed as needed.
  • Monitor health of current systems to ensure it is functioning at peak performance and make recommendations as needed in addition to assisting customers with capital budget planning for maintenance, upkeep and sustainment of systems.
  • Meet with the stakeholders (both club and corporate) to understand the security needs and develop requirements and/or solutions to meet operational objectives.
  • Support the design requirements, concepts and guidelines of both the Global Safety/Security team as well as the IT team, ensuring operational requirements are met for stakeholders.
  • Understand requirements and communicate with key stakeholders when challenges arise, providing solutions to bridge the gap., keeping end user objectives in mind.
  • Identify candidate technologies and evaluate them against the defined requirements. Become an expert on the system and be able to communicate how the system enables the solution and where its limitations lie.
  • Work with internal teams to assess and resolve all privacy, network security, and scalability concerns for the systems.
  • Write high quality documentation for system standards and operations. Work hand in hand with corporate and vendor installation and administration teams to field the solutions.
  • Continually re-evaluate the systems to ensure they are still effective and actively assess how new technology developments or changes in the environment may require new solutions.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on security engineering needs and requirements for system performance, installations, and sustainment programs and provide recommended improvements per industry best practices.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree with 7-9 years of security systems experience preferred.
  • Hands on experience designing and deploying Physical Security Systems.
  • System administration experience in performing triage on system problems, resolving the system problems, analyzing system data to prevent problems, and implementing new workstations and system extensions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Physical Security esigns, standard operating procedures, and security operations.
  • Working knowledge and/or certification with operating systems commonly used for ACS, IDS, and CCTV systems.
  • Working knowledge and/or certification with electronic security manufacturers such as Genetec, Salto, HID, Axis, Hanwha and Motorola.  Candidate should be able to understand how these systems operate and where their limitations lie.
  • Ability to travel up to 40%.

 

Preferred Additional Qualifications

  • Genetec certifications and experience is highly desired. Corresponding industry certifications, ASIS (Essentials of Facility Security Design,) or similar.
  • Working knowledge and/or certification with communications and network protocols and services including TCP/IP, RS232, RS485, network-based video distribution (Unicast and Multicast L2/L3.)
  • Programming and scripting experience (PowerShell, Python, etc.) experience with systems integration tools and protocols (APIs, SOAP and REST, XML/JSON,) database design and query development is desired, but not required.

For individuals residing in NV, the salary range for this role starts at $130,000 annualized.
