Php Software Developer

Position Description: OPEXUS has an exciting opportunity for a software engineer with 7+years of hands-on web development experience and proven abilities to support software development activities through its full lifecycle.  The scope of work includes design and development of web applications using PHP to ensure business requirements are met with a high-quality UI experience. Tasks will include maintaining code, assisting in automated testing and providing technical support when in operations. 

The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining web applications using PHP and related web technologies. The candidate should have experience with full-stack web development and be comfortable working in a team environment. 

Location: DC Metro Area with Full-Time Telework Available for local candidates

General Roles & Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain web applications using PHP and related web technologies. 
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code. 
• Collaborate with the team to identify and solve complex technical problems. 
• Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications. 
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to the development of team best practices. 
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.  

Required Skills

• PHP, Relational Database Systems such as MS Sql Server, MySql, PostgreSQL, SQLite, JavaScript/HTML/CSS/JSON/XML 
• Experience working on large government con tracts and performing operations and maintenance work on existing systems and infrastructure.  
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and RESTful API design.  
• Familiarity with agile development methodologies and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.  
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and in a team environment.  
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
