As our PhotoVoltaic Systems Designer II, every day you will create and review rooftop, ground mount, and carport PV layouts, draft designs using AutoCAD for various stages including permit, construction, and as-built drawings. You'll design and draft layouts for specific projects as directed by team leaders and assess existing conditions, ensuring design feasibility and resolving any conflicts. In addition, you will apply building and fire codes across different jurisdictions, you'll also maintain and enhance drafting processes for the Engineering and Design team. You will be involved in supporting the development and origination team with RFP engineering tasks, aiding Project Managers during construction with RFIs, and conducting pre-construction site visits, utilizing drones for efficient data capture, while also undertaking any other assigned duties. This position sits in Chicago / Distributed Solar & Storage and Reports to the Design Manager, Engineering & Delivery.
What you bring:
- Associate’s degree in technical/science field
- Minimun of three (3)+ years' of experience working in the solar industry, architecture industry, construction industry or related industry
- You are proficient in Microsoft Excel and engage with AutoCAD in professional contexts
- You enjoy diving into intricate design challenges with flexibility and technical acumen, with the ability to read and interpret building construction document sets: such as floor plans, roof plans, elevations, details, and civil site plans
- You possess the ability to contribute actively to company-wide strategies and initiatives
- You excel in both written and verbal communication, ensuring clear interactions
- You are proactive in project ownership, aspire to leadership roles, and hold a valid driver's license for potential 20% travel
Additional Information/Conditions:
- Ability to meet attendance requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
- Ability to handle multiple assignments in a timely manner, with a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to use a company issued computer, calculator, etc
- Could involve some light lifting, climbing stairs or climbing ladders
- Physically able to visit and walk renewable energy sites, roof tops or ground mount, throughout the USA for extended periods of time in hot or cold weather conditions
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and specifications
- Experience with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) in the permitting process
- Experience taking measurements and notes of existing conditions on a job site
- Interest in renewable energy or sustainable design

Salary Range:$74,500 - $114,195 annually
Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors
In addition to salary, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus and incentive plan
