First Coast News is looking for a highly skilled Photojournalist/SAT Truck Operator. We are seeking a photographer, editor and experienced SAT Truck Operator who can create sharable and exciting content for television, social media and mobile. We want journalists who can tell great stories on their own or with a team, photographers who bring new ideas for the future of journalism.
Our ideal candidates are familiar with the latest photography, editing tools and techniques. They create unique and exciting content on all platforms. They are proficient with live news gathering tools, live shots/streaming, site surveys and running a SAT Truck for big coverage.
Responsibilities:
• Shoot and edit video and run live shots.
• Use the latest editing and photography tools to tell great stories, including but not limited to Edius and Adobe Products.
• Use creative production techniques such as graphics and new forms of media (viewer pictures, webcam interviews, etc.) to enhance stories.
• Cover breaking, general, sports, feature, investigative, and political news stories.
• Attend editorial meetings and participate in discussions.
• Perform other tasks as required by supervisor or executive producer.
• Drive and run the station's SAT Truck for big coverage, specials, and remote newscasts.
• Maintain the station's SAT Truck and assist with vehicle fleet when needed.
• Assist news management team with site surveys, production and planning big coverage.
Job Requirements:
• Experience and passion in photojournalism and editing.
• Experience with Edius, Avid, and/or Adobe Premiere a plus.
• Ability to generate creative, engaging, content-driven live shots.
• Excellent news judgment, writing skills, photography experience, and non-linear editing skills.
• Must be flexible with schedule, reliable and dependable.
• Understanding of the tenets of professional journalism.
• Organizational skills and the ability to work under constant deadlines.
• Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
