Position Summary
Prepares and sets up the laboratory for student use and classroom demonstrations; operates and maintains a variety of photography equipment; researches, orders, issues, receives, and stores laboratory materials; monitors laboratory supply and material budgets and performs related duties as required or assigned. Must be committed to serving a diverse college community. Actively participates in and contributes to continuous quality improvement. This is a part-time position working no more than 20 hours a week.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Sets up, operates, and demonstrates the use of specialized equipment, instruments, and apparatus typically found in a community college photography program.
  • Maintains and coordinates a clean and safe learning environment in the laboratory, classroom, laboratory office, and storage areas.
  • Prepares and maintains required documentation regarding the purchase, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Orders, receives, and stores inventory equipment, supplies, and materials for laboratory use.
  • Prepares various solutions for demonstrations and student use.
  • Provides technical support and serves as a resource to faculty, students, and staff.
  • Communicates with instructors, vendors, and suppliers regarding photography laboratory purchases, operations, and equipment
  • Responsibilities also include scheduling and managing the lab monitors.
  • Responsible for the equipment checkout, maintenance, organization, and storage of all equipment, including lighting equipment, cameras, darkroom, lighting studio and digital lab equipment and tools.
  • Schedule and manage reservations for the lighting studio, and private darkrooms.
  • Preform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in photography, studio art, industrial arts, or a related field. or related field.
  • One (1) year of experience related to the duties described
  • Education may be substituted for relevant experience on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's in Fine Arts Degree with an emphasis in photography.
