SCHEDULE: Full-time; Beginning in April for approximately 12 weeks; Four 9-hour days; 6:00 am - 3:30 pm or 7:30 am - 5:00 pm; Every fourth weekend
Performs various waived or moderate complexity testing in hematology, coagulation, chemistry, microbiology, blood banking, immunology, and urinalysis. He/she receives or obtains specimens for laboratory analysis and prepares specimens for reference laboratory. Responsible for specimen processing, test performance, and reporting of results. Assists in the clerical duties of the lab and assists the medical technologists. The Phlebotomist is under the direction of the Laboratory Director and the supervision of the general supervisor.
No experience is necessary. On-the-job training available. Completion of high school or equivalent preferred and documentation of training appropriate for testing performed prior to analyzing patient specimens. Basic computer knowledge preferred.
Completes order entry information utilizing the computer system. Communicates pertinent and appropriate information to internal and external contacts. Completes charge tickets. Assures correct specimen collection. Follow Universal Precautions and Infection Control policies. Produces accurate results. Note: This is a partial listing of key job areas.
