Phlebotomist Outpatient - As Needed
Summary - The Phlebotomist collects the proper specimens from the patient, i.e., blood, urine, cultures, etc.,according to the physician’s order, ensuring specimen integrity. This position follows standard operating procedures for positive patient ID, collection, labeling, processing, and handling of appropriate specimens ensuring patient safety while maintaining customer focus. May be performing draws in either Oupatient Facilities or Nursing Home Facilities.
Education - Proof of completion of accredited phlebotomy, military medic, medical assistant or EMT course.
Experience - Completion of one of the above or 1 year recent phlebotomy experience.
Licensure/Certification - Preferred certification in phlebotomy, medical assistant or EMT. Current BLS certification in compliance with policy required. Current, valid driver's license, car insurance, and access to a vehicle required. Vehicle maintenance is the employee's responsibility.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities - Possess the ability to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the unit’s/department’s policies and procedures. Understanding of medical terminology desirable.
