Job Summary:

The Department of Clinical Laboratories at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Phlebotomist/TH Instructional Support Assistant, Lab Specimen & Accessioning. The successful candidate will:

• Perform venipuncture and fingerstick collection on inpatients and outpatients.
• Maintain accurate logs of all venipuncture performed.
• Process and handle specimens in central receiving area.
• Log specimens via LIS (Cerner).
• Participate in all aspects of quality assurance, quality control, patient safety, continuing education and other aspects as needed.
• Train and aid in the instrumentation of techniques to new personnel and house staff.

Required Qualifications:

• 1+ year of experience in venipuncture and clinical labs.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Phlebotomy certification, ASCP or equivalent preferred.
