What does a Patient Engagement Specialist do? The Patient Engagement Specialist (PES) is an exciting career growth role that will launch a Pharmacy Technician’s career in the Specialty Pharmacy Industry. If you love direct patient interaction and you have an exceptional level of accountability you will have the opportunity to help patients ensure they receive their life saving and/or life improving medications on time. You will be directly responsible for providing the highest level of service to patients dealing with time sensitive, complicated, and high touch pharmacy therapies. The PES will provide white glove service for outbound patient Refill Calls and assisting the patient through the entire specialty pharmacy refill process by working directly with their medical provider, clinic staff, or hospital pharmacy to ensure medication is refill on-time. This role will be responsible for some or all of the below types of activities: owns and manages patient roster to ensure patients receive their medications on-time; assists pharmacies to properly adjudicate electronic prescription drug claims and resolve adjudication error messages; responsible for providing knowledgeable and courteous customer assistance and response to patients, providers, and pharmacy team member inquiries; serves as a point of contact between patients, pharmacy, liaisons, clinical providers, and various internal functional areas; responding to patient requests and inquiries regarding prescription drug plan coverage and fulfillment through the pharmacy; inbound calls to support the health systems needs in patient; status checks on prescriptions.
What do you need?
- 3+ years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician required.
- Experience in specialty pharmacy setting (preferred)
- Active State Pharmacy Technician license or registration required
- PTCB or NHA (National certification) preferred
- High school diploma or GED required.
