General Description of Position
Pharmacy technicians work with pharmacists to help prepare and give out prescription medication. They
review and monitor prescriptions and doctors orders. Work with health professionals and customers, help
count pills, measure medication, label and give instructions for medicine, and prepare take home medication
under the oversight of the Pharmacist on site. This position works dependently under the guidance and
supervision of the PIC.

Examples of Duties
The job duties of certified pharmacy tech usually include the following:
Preparation of medications for patients
Receiving and verifying the prescriptions
filling of take homes and securing medication
Obtaining pharmacist’s approval
Stocking medications in inventory
Maintaining pharmacy’s (and its patients’ employees’) safety by adhering to infection-control
procedures, policies and regulations
Maintains records by recording and filing physicians' orders and prescriptions.
Prepares reports by collecting and summarizing information.
Maintain inventory counts.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Exemplary verbal communication and customer service skills
- Must possess valid state certification
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications, Education and Experience
Holds current certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB),.
Salary Range: commensurate with experience.
