SHIFT: Monday - Friday, 9am - 6pm
SALARY RANGE: $15 - $17 HOURLY
SUMMARY:This position assists pharmacists in entering medication orders into the computer. This position is also responsible for answering inbound and outbound calls. The Order Entry Technician will assist patients or PBM staff with pharmacy benefit questions and problem resolution while positively representing ProCare.
DUTIES INCLUDE but are not limited to:
- Enters patient, doctor, insurance, payment, and prescription information quickly and accurately into the computer system; processes order including adjudicating claims and applying copay assistance and charging payment when appropriate
- Interprets medical abbreviations (SIG Codes)
- Reads and reviews prescriptions, troubleshoots to obtain missing information, performs basic computations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and dose conversions
- Enters new and refill orders in a timely and accurate manner
- Works closely with billing representative to manage and process pending order claims
- Assists other Pharmacy Technicians
- Promptly and courteously answers incoming telephone calls
- Makes outbound calls related to payment method, delivery confirmation, and benefit information
- Initiates Prior Authorization and monitors status
- Maintains contact with clinical staff with any issues on specialty drugs
- Assesses, prioritizes, and resolves client issues using suitable listening and comprehension skills
- Documents and retains all pertinent information and escalates issues to management as appropriate
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician in the state of Florida.
- National Pharmacy Tech certification preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of prior Pharmacy Technician experience in Order Entry preferred.
- Knowledge of basic pharmacy Order Entry practices and procedures preferred.
- Knowledge of Pharmacy medications and medical supplies preferred.
- Strong mathematical computation skills preferred.
- Knowledge of record-keeping techniques preferred.
- Ability to work as a Pharmacy team member in an office setting.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to analyze problems, interpret data and develop solutions.
- Attention to detail.
- Accurate typing skills.
- Basic understanding of computer technology.
