Form of workThe Pharmacy Technician position reports to the Chief Pharmacist in the Pharmacy Department located at Phoenix Indian Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona. The Pharmacy Technician performs various duties involving inpatient and outpatient responsibilities that require application of an extensive knowledge of pharmaceutical and pharmacy practice.

Individual Occupational Requirements, GS-0661:Specialized Experience (for positions at GS-4 and above): Qualifying specialized experience may have been gained in hospital pharmacies, retail pharmacies, or in pharmaceutical firms or laboratories. Experience must have provided a basic knowledge of:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, GS-05:
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with major study in pharmacy, or that included at least 24 semester hours in pharmacy-related courses.
OR
Successful completion of a course for medical technicians, hospital corpsmen, medical service specialist, or hospital training obtained in a training program given by the Armed Forces or the U.S. Maritime Service under close medical and professional supervision is creditable on a month-for-month basis for general experience. Note: Successful completion of pertinent specialized training courses in pharmaceutical and pharmacy practices while serving in the Armed Forces is creditable on a month-for-month basis up to the 1 year specialized experience required for GS-5.
OR
Possess a combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The total percentage equals at least 100 percent to qualify for this GS-05 grade level.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, GS-06:Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Typing prescription labels, calculating doses to match physician's order with pharmacy stocks and filling prescriptions.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, GS-05:
- Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience to at least the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or task: Examples include: Recognizing appropriate auxiliary warnings and packaging requirements of drugs dispensed; assisting pharmacy staff in filling out outpatient prescriptions under pharmacist's supervision.
